Royal Bank Closure

Community Information Session

The Royal Bank is hosting a community information session at the North Kawartha Community Centre, 340 McFadden Road, Apsley Ontario, K0L 1A0 on November 2, 2017 from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm.  This is an opportunity for you to learn more about the decision to merge the branches and discuss potential alternative banking arrangements and services.

The Council of the Township of North Kawartha passed several motions related to the Royal Bank Closure at the regular meeting of Council held on October 17, 2017 including facilitating the communications of the "Stop Apsley RBC Closure Group". Below you will find the communications provided by the Group and a link to the Group's Facebook page.

Please refer to the October 17th Council minutes, linked above, to view all motions passed by Council. (Refer to Motion #'s 17-474, 17-491, 17-492 and 17-493.)

North Kawartha Business Survey

The Kawartha Chamber of Commerce & Tourism is looking to gather data regarding the impact this closure would have on area businesses. Please take a few minutes to complete this survey. They hope to have as many people as possible complete the survey before the Public Meeting on November 2nd.

Stop Apsley RBC Closure Group Communications are set out below and can also be found on the Group's Facebook Page:

"Below are the email addresses for the key contacts at RBC including North Kawartha Township Clerk Connie Parent.  It is important that all correspondence is copied to the township so it becomes a part of the public record.  We have also included the email and mailing address to the RBC Office of the Ombudsman to whom one can send a quick email or letter expressing your concern. As a reminder, we ask that you be respectful. If we push too hard or become abusive or we put their backs up, they will walk away and not listen to anything we say. At the same time, we need to be clear why we want the bank to stay.
Please do not feel obliged to send an email - this is for those that choose to do so. The petitions are out at local businesses and online. We need everyone to attend the public meeting scheduled for Thursday Nov 2, 2017 at the NKCC at 7pm.   There are many opportunities to say your piece or show your support.  We need to keep the momentum going.
For those who have asked for some help getting going, below are a few starter sentences - choose one and go for it. We suggest not making your emails too long. Anything more than two paragraphs could easily be put aside to "read later." Most of all: You really only need to tell your story.
Thanks everyone SOB!
